Tesla has unveiled an updated version of its electric truck, the Semi, even before large-scale production begins.
The model, first revealed in 2017, features a new design inspired by the Cybertruck.
The Semi boasts an estimated range of about 500 miles (800 km), consumes 1.7 kWh every 1.5 miles, and has a battery capacity of approximately 850 kWh. The motor delivers 1,072 horsepower, and the ultra-fast charging system allows for 70% of the range to be recovered in just 30 minutes. Tesla also states that the vehicle has been designed to operate with autonomous features, though no details have been disclosed.
Elon Musk has confirmed that volume production will begin next year, with assembly planned at a new factory in Nevada, expected to open in early 2026. However, after multiple delays since the initial 2019 promise, the timeline is still met with some caution.
